The Scientific and Technical Advisory Board of the International Cooperation Project for the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage at the Esquerquis Bank is Ongoing on May 6, 2022

The fourth technical and scientific adivsory board of the International Cooperation Project for the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage at the Esquerquis Bank is ongoing on May 6, 2022. It is organized by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs has organized in partnership with the National Institute of Heritage (INP) and the Agency for the Development of Heritage and Cultural Promotion (AMVPPC) under the auspices of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

 

On the second day, the committee has discussed the communication scheme for promoting this pilot project on an academic and awareness-raising level. This project is considered to be the first experience to implement the fundamental principles of the UNESCO Convention of 2001. The committee is made of experts specialized in the underwater cultural heritage and has examined making a memorandum of cooperation between the coordinating country, the participating countries in the project, and UNESCO.

 

It is worth mentioning that the International Cooperation Project for the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage at the Esquerquis Bank brought together 8 Mediterranean countries, namely Spain, Italy, Algeria, France, Croatia, Egypt, Morocco, and Tunisia, being the coordinating country. It seeks to protect the underwater cultural heritage that this area is ripe with.

On the margins of the fourth technical and scientific advisory board of the International Cooperation Project for the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage at the Esquerquis Bank, Tunisia has hosted on Friday, May 6, 2022, the 13th meeting of the scientific and technical advisory boead to the UNESCO 2001 Convention with the presence of 14 specialists and experts.

 

In its annual edition, the two-day council of international experts in underwater heritage the annual report of the activities of the current Advisory Board. The latter will issue recommendations and deliverables to the General Secretary of UNESCO as well as the countries endorsing the Convention of 2001 concerning the protection of the underwater heritage and wishing to be assisted in the field of scientific research.
